One of my favorite foods my Mama used to cook was pork chops. I LOVE pork chops, fried, grilled, baked, it just doesn’t matter to me. Plus, they’re not expensive!
This meal we recently made was so easy and delicious, I couldn’t believe it. A great meal when you’ve been working all day or just need a simple dinner for two. It took a whopping 38 minutes to make, I mean really! So here you go. Let me know if you try it, like it, don’t like it, or what you might do differently. Love hearing from you!
GARLIC PARMESAN PORKCHOPS
Ingredients
Pork Chops (as many as you need)
1 cup shredded parmesan cheese
Bread crumbs (we used Italian Style but use what you like!)
1 tsp of oregano leaves
1 tsp of garlic powder
1 tsp of onion powder
Dash of Salt and Pepper
(I used to hate to see “dash” in a recipe… I mean is that a teaspoon, a tablespoon, a shake, what? Read on.)
2 eggs
1 tbs of butter
- Preheat your oven to 400.
- In a bowl, mix your parmesan cheese, oregano, garlic powder, onion powder, and a couple of shakes of salt and pepper (that’s my version of dash!). You are making a coating for those yummy pork chops.
- Break your eggs into a separate bowl and mix.
- Dip your pork chops into the eggs until both sides are coated. This is what I’ve learned is called an egg wash… sounds kind of weird to me but it’s a necessity.
- Now dip your pork chops into the parmesan mix you made until both sides are coated well.
- Melt your butter in a cast iron skillet on low (or your favorite frying pan).
- Place your pork chops into the cast iron skillet or frying pan and sear until a light golden brown on both sides.
- Then go over and kiss the cook, unless you are the cook, but anyway… got distracted.
- Once the pork chops are golden brown on both sides, place your cast iron skillet directly into the oven! Or if you used a frying pan, transfer the chops to a baking dish and place in oven.
- Bake the pork chops on 400 degrees for approximately ten minutes. You want them to be a beautiful golden color so your mouth waters!
- Remove and serve with your favorite sides. We served ours with B’s homemade black bean~corn~tomato salad and bacon/jalapeno deviled eggs. We’ll share those in an upcoming post!
Oh, and don’t forget your favorite drink. We love serving this with our favorite wine, Josh’s Pinot Noir.
Please let me know how you like this, if you changed anything up, and thanks for reading and sharing!
