I was thinking last night about how we barely get going on Monday morning and we’re waking up on Friday. We plan Christmas and it’s over – wow. Just like last year!
We barely got our our new 2023 calendar and here we are shopping for 2024 calendars.
Our new jobs barely got started and retirement is staring us in the face. Although I wish mine would stare a little closer, lol.
Before we know it, a few decades have passed, and the next few will be gone even faster. You know that as well as I do. So what are we doing about it? Are we coloring in our grey moments with bright crayons or leaving them in the box until…? Until what – seriously?
Lord, y’all, let’s get out the damn crayons.
The word AFTER comes up a lot as we grow through this life.
After I graduate, after I get married, after I find a job, after I have more money,
after I retire, after…
we leave so much for after.
Blah, blah, blah.
But when after is or was supposed to show up, things have usually changed,
priorities are muddled, we lose loved ones, there are health scares,
kids have grown up and away, money is pulled in another direction,
parents need us more –
I didn’t see my Mom needing me for almost a decade during a time I was raising kids and building a business. Yes, I would do it again in a heartbeat, but the course I had for my life changed without warning in a big way.
So can yours.
And before you know it,
after has slipped on by and we didn’t even notice.
So, let’s make now our after. Let’s start to whittle away at that after with hope and joy and abandon. In fact, let’s replace the word after with “today.”
Why not? What are we waiting for?
Love,
Tracey
