I wrote this at one of the darkest times in my life a few years ago. I felt so lost, lonely, and empty. It is hard to explain to someone who hasn’t been there like trying to explain the color of the sky to a person who has never seen. While this is not me today, I share this for the person reading who is here in this place. I get you, I see you, I feel you, I was you. I am here to give you hope that there is hope. Don’t give up, don’t let go of that thread you’re clinging to… that one thread might be coming from the hem of God’s robe so hang on tight. It is stronger than any darkness.
With the morning should come light,
but I dread it like the night.
Sometimes it’s heavy and I cannot breathe.
I want the sadness, the dark, the heaviness to leave.
I want happy for the sun to rise,
I want joy in these teary eyes.
Longing to wake up and smile,
it feels like that’s been a while.
