HOPE FOR ALAMANCE COUNTY NEEDS MINISTRY
Living Kingdom Minded, not Earthly Minded.
When you scroll through the Facebook page, Hope for Alamance County Needs Ministry, you quickly realize the enormity of needs in our county. Many of them are from our own neighbors or just down the street, people who need groceries or maybe just a tank of gas to get to work. All the needs are important to mere survival and are things a lot of us, their neighbors, can help with.

In 2013, Katie Wise, a sweet and gentle spirit living in Alamance County, did some serious soul searching asking herself what she was doing to give back. She was a wife and busy Mom of three but felt she was only serving the needs of her own family and wanted to do more; she decided it was time to “live kingdom minded, not earthly minded.” Katie formed the Hope for Alamance County Needs Ministry, solely on Facebook, and it has taken on a life of its own. Katie begins each morning asking God for her assignments for that day and they are plentiful, so much so that the needs often far outweigh the ability to meet them all.
The Hope for Alamance County page is followed by people who are able and want to help others when they can. Katie hears of needs and shares them on the page in hopes someone who is able will volunteer to help. When they do, she connects them with the person or family in need and it goes from there. These acts will arm your heart and there are many people who are so grateful today that Katie took them as her assignment.
While all of this sounds and is wonderful, there are a few unique things that set this Ministry apart such as Katie’s belief in helping those who are willing to help themselves. She is quick to tell you that most of us have had emergency situations but if someone returns to the Ministry for help after their initial request or two, the needs are probably far more than dollars. This is where Katie’s next assignment begins. Over the years, she has partnered with incredible resources available in Alamance County, such as NC Works Career Center and The Healing Station Family Resource Center, where she directs those who may need more. These resources provide free education and training on how to manage money and work on a budget, building healthy relationships, empowering women, assistance through clothes and food drives, finding jobs, and more. The goal is to help people get out of the boat they were in when they asked for help and in turn, many actually return to help others and that is what it’s all about.
To end on this important note, Hope for Alamance County Needs Ministry is in need of givers. If you can give a little or a lot, if you have an open heart and want to extend a hand, just follow the Facebook page to learn more and maybe you’ll feel an assignment calling to you.
