When I walked into Tommy Allison’s home, one of the first things I saw was a colorful basket full of soft blankets just inside the front door.  I have to admit it made me want to grab one, cozy up on one of his many couches, or maybe sit by the firepit with a cup of coffee or glass of wine, and just stay a while!   

This is exactly how Tommy and his partner of 30 years, Kenny Martin, want their guests to feel when they come over.  They love to entertain friends and family often and there is plentiful laughter and fellowship as they gather in the kitchen, in one of their comfy sitting areas, or often on the patio which is as comfortable, colorful, and pretty as the inside of the house.

Kenny will tell you it’s Tommy’s artful eye and attention to detail that makes their home so inviting (scroll below for images!).  Tommy has thoughtfully collected and placed special pieces in every room and as you walk through the house, you can’t help but slow down and take it all in.  When Tommy mentioned the home had been featured in Alamance Magazine, I was in no way surprised.  After all, it’s the kind of home many of us dream of having.

While Tommy can make any room come to life, he’s well known for also making people feel beautiful at the five-star salon he has co-owned with Kenny for over two decades, Three’s Company Salon in Graham.  His clients book weeks in advance and I feel sure they get almost as excited to see what Tommy’s done in the salon as they are about seeing him!  He is often updating the space, along with their home, especially for seasons and holidays, as he wants it to feel special both for clients and the ones who work there.  Kenny says you never know what to expect when you walk through the doors but he and friends and clients are always amazed at Tommy’s ideas and are happy to reap the benefit of enjoying them every day.

Over the years, Tommy has been asked often for decor and design advice, and has quietly given that to a select few.  His humble personality has quite frankly kept him one of the best-kept secrets in the area but all that is about to change.  I am very excited to share that…

Tommy Allison is a native of Alamance County and over the years, has utilized his talent doing catalog work, showroom design, and product development.  Today, he is inspired by nature, travel, and even seeing what people love through social media.  Tommy describes his style most days as eclectic modern with touches of glam as he loves neutral monochromatic color schemes with pops of color added through accents and accessories.  On occasion, he will fluctuate between between minimalism and maximalism depending on his mood and the space he is decorating as he adapts to the client and the feel they desire for their own space.  Tommy does love clean lines and structure for furniture while always considering comfort and the style of the home.
