Even though we knew things were changing, who would have thought 20 years ago that we’d be walking around with a high-resolution camera and video recorder in our hands almost 24/7, our cellphones! It sounded crazy and still does to a certain degree. The thought that we can share a photo or video with the world in seconds… I mean think about it.
That is reality folks. We don’t have those massive VHS cameras anymore (thank God!) sitting on top of our shoulders at ballgames and holidays. Instead we can whip out this thing in our back pocket and capture every sound and image in an instant. So exciting and what I wouldn’t give to have had that option when my kids were growing up.
That said, remember that technology is so non-permanent. We’ve gone from 8 track tapes to floppy discs to cassettes to CDs to zip drives all in the blink of an eye. I mean even our newer laptops no longer come with CD drives…. gasp! So all those CDS of images we thought were safely stored away will soon be non-playable if you don’t have a disc drive to play them on! The bottom line is technology changes almost daily and there is no way to know what it will be tomorrow, let alone in a decade. Smartphones may be replaced with something else and the clouds? Well, they may just dissipate…. eeeeeek! Either way, we are continually vulnerable to change.
The infographic shared here explores the importance of photo prints in this digital world and explains why printing your favorite photos are the best way to protect them for future generations. Printed photos will last 100s of years when stored at room temperature. I mean look at the old photos
we have still remaining of ancestors, wow! But yet, fewer that 50% of us printed a photo last year.
