I believe every single day has a yay in it. You know a YAY!!!!!!!!!!! You almost have to say it with happy hands raised, just sayin’.
It might be that you watched the sunrise for the first time in forever, read a book for a whole hour without falling asleep (that’s my problem!), or maybe it’s that you got out of bed when you didn’t feel that you could. Every – single – day has A yay in it, and some days you’re it, some days you have to search, but they’re there. I promise.
We can also be the yay IN someone’s day, make someone smile, laugh, feel loved. That’s a yay in my book, how about yours?
I believe children need to learn (as much as we do) to find the little yays in between the big ones. Kids grow up so conditioned and programmed to achieve more, be more, do more, that they often skip the little yays because they didn’t hit the ball or they tmade a B or missed a note in the recital or their artwork didn’t win the award. I just so wish we could teach them to look at the laughter in the dugout, how making a B is a great accomplishment and they learned something along the way, to feel the courage it took to do the recital, and that the artwork you’re going to hang on the fridge is imperfectly perfect, Yay!! “I love that that quirk is you!!”Anyway, I’d like to introduce you to my new mantra, theme, mission in life. I am a yay person, I say it a lot, and I want to help others find a few along the way. Watch for more on this coming soon (maybe a shirt or two, a hat, a little surprise for kids and grandkids, eeeeeeeeeeeeeek)! Now, go be someone’s YAY, and find your own. Looking back to yesterday, what is just one YAY you may have had? Mine… hmmm… I got to hold a 7 day old baby and take it all in, hear the story of a kitten found behind the shrubs at a Starbucks weighing only a pound and now she has little girls loving all over her, and my front porch… oh, the porch. Now that’s a yay every day!!
Have a YAY kind of day, I’ll be back shortly!!
xoxo
