I read a quote a while back and can’t remember now exactly how it went but the idea of it has stuck with me for weeks. It’s about love and how we can feel it but not touch it.
When it rains, we can feel it physically. We can dance in it, feel nourished by it, we can collect it and water the flowers with it. Even the flowers and trees and grass seem happy to feel it when they are dry. But yet, we cannot touch the source from which it comes. We know the rain clouds are up above, we can see some of them perhaps, but to touch them would be impossible. They exist, we believe, and we cherish what they provide.
Like the rain clouds, love cannot be touched either, but what it provides can most definitely be felt. Isn’t it crazy that you can feel something you can’t touch? When we share love with others, they can feel it as they dance in it and are nourished by it, we are like water when they are thirsty. They can collect it in their heart and share it with others.
And when we talk about the love from our Father, we cannot physically touch the source from which this magnificent love comes, but man, can’t we feel it like a warm blanket on a cold day?! We know He’s there, we see evidence of it all around us, and just because we can’t reach out and touch it, we know it is real. We believe.
Let’s water flowers today, let’s nourish, let’s share the untouchable gift of love with someone who is thirsty. You are water for my soul, thank you.
